"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians..."

The following is a quote from Gandhi. "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ." Sadly, this is far too often the case with both Christians and non Christians alike.

Our lives, our families, and our world can only be improved by living by the principals taught by Jesus, Gandhi, and other spiritual leaders.

I am a Christian. I love the New Testament and I love Christ. Whether you believe that He is the Savior or not, your lives will only be enhanced by reading about his life and ministry, and living by the concepts he teaches. I feel the same way about Gandhi, Buddha, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, and many other peaceful leaders.

I challenge all to choose a peaceful leader and study them this year. Learn about them and do what you can to incorporate their teachings into your life and into your character. You will learn more by doing this than by reading a bookshelf full of self help books.

If you take this challenge, post a reply on my blog, my facebook (tracy.duvall), or send me an email. I would like to know who you choose to study, and at the end of the year, I would like to know how it has affected your life.

I admire people like Ghandi and Mother Teresa because of how they demonstrated the love they "believed" in through their behavior and actions toward all around, regardless of what they thought, felt, and believed. In other words, they showed love to the world and its citizens even when the citizens deserved no love to be shown. And this is where I admire them, it is so easy for me to get frustrated at life and the people therein that I pull away from showing love -- they, on the other hand, showed their love despite how they or anyone else felt.
