I woke up this morning feeling pretty quite well. Went to my appointment. They always take blood right when I get there and test my levels, then I see the doctor.
Everything they check for is low right now... white blood cells, read blood cells and whatever else they test for, so the doc says not chemo today.
I told him that I feel fine and really want to get it over with, and he said if he gave it to me today it would probably kill me. Also, he said I should be in the hospital right now (according to my blood work).
He talked about giving me a blood transfusion and said I am down 3 pints. Then decided to try giving me a shot (I think it is called Aranesp) to build up my red blood cells that way first.
So, for right now I am not getting a transfusion. I am able to eat 2-3 times a day now, and I am going to eat a lot of protein and iron and hopefully I will be ok to start chemo next Monday.
I really am blessed to not have been hospitalized at all through this treatment. I was in the emergency room once for about 4 hours. That was NOT fun! I am so grateful that my body has been able able to handle the treatment. Happy that my mind has been able to as well.
